1. Meets and instructs assigned language arts classes (May be asked to teach out of content area)
2. Plans a program that meets the individual needs, interests, and instructional levels of the students.
3. Creates a classroom environment that is conductive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, culture and interests of the students.
4. Prepares lesson plans on a weekly basis for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
5. Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior.
6. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals, established clear objectives for all lessons, activities and the like to communicate these objectives to students.

JOB PURPOSE:
Within the limits of law, board policies and regulations, administrative rules, and instructions from the Superintendent of Schools or designee, the teacher is responsible for directing the teaching and learning process of assigned students. The purpose of this direction is student acquisition of basic skills, knowledge, and attitudes as identified by district curriculum guidelines.

All instruction provided for students will be individualized. This means that differences in individual learning style, rate of learning, level of maturation and level of achievement will provide the basis for instructional decision-making. To respond to these differences, it is expected that teachers will vary materials, rate of instruction and methodology and these modifications will be based upon frequent assessment. 

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education preferred.
• Holds a current Alaska Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in PreK-12 Special Education.
• Proficiency with computers essential

$2,000 Signing Bonus.
