QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working with youth preferred, but not required
- Previous law enforcement and/or security experience or education preferred, but not required
- Knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies
- Ability to obtain a valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES - Strong internal and external communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions.
- Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and reports, monitor students, and work with and secure the cooperation of students.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
- Ability to interact cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents, and community.
- Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
- Ability to understand and maintain students’ and parents’ rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students.
- Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position, is held in the highest of confidentiality.
- Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures, and Board policies; including mandatory reporting procedures.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Patrol school facilities, grounds, buildings, etc., for the purpose of providing visibility within the school setting to students and the general public to maintain security and deter crime.
- Observe persons in/or adjacent to school grounds; use judgment regarding questionable persons on school property and notify Administration or local police authorities as appropriate.
- Supervise students during the school day and related after-school activities.
- Perform minor first aid and/or assist the school nurse with major problems/injuries, if requested.
- Report all acts of violence and vandalism to School Administration.
- Inform students, personnel, and the general public as appropriate for the purpose of ensuring their understanding of laws, enforcement procedures and consequences of their actions.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and the general public.
- Respond and take action in serious and possibly life-threatening situations.
- Monitor the loading and unloading of students to and from buses.
- Responsible for the security and safety of all students and school personnel and the school grounds, in collaboration with all staff and local first responders.
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Governing Board Policies.
- Respond to potential emergencies, alarm calls, bomb threats, fights, etc., for the purpose of ensuring safety of students, personnel and property.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to reach with hands and arms, sit, stand, walk, stoop, and bend as necessary for student learning and safety. The employee may lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing a minimum of 20 to 75 pounds, frequently. The employee may lift and assist students as necessary. The employee will read correspondence and computer screens, and use the telephone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoor and outdoor environments in all types of weather. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with students, staff and the public.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The Day Security reports to the Principal or Site Administrator. The Day Security will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
INITIAL WAGE PLACEMENT PLAN: Starting at $15.35 per hour
WORK YEAR: 9 Month School Year Calendar / 8 hours per day
