  •   Community Consolidated School District 89 is seeking a full-time elementary school psychologist for its 2024-2025 school year.  

    Essential Duties
    (Other duties may be assigned.)
    1. Identifies and assesses the learning, development, and adjustment characteristics and needs of individual students and student groups, as well as the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment.  Uses assessment and observational data about the student(s) environment in developing appropriate interventions and educational recommendations. 
    2. Facilitates student groups and individual counseling, as necessary. 
    3. Participates in district and building SEL committees.
    4. Conducts targeted student observations and provides follow-up consultation at request of teacher, principal, or Student Services Team member. 
    5. Consults with staff regarding behavior management, learning problems/expectations, interpretation of psychological data/test results, parent conferencing, and interpretation of data/evaluation reports from outside agencies. 
    6. Responds to parent and teacher requests for evaluations in accordance with Illinois law.
    7. Facilitates and promotes restorative practices with individual students, groups of students and staff. 
    8. Conducts student evaluations and reevaluations for students placed in special education programs and those newly referred for consideration of special education services.
    9. Facilitates and serves as LEA at IEP meetings. 
    10. Integrates CCSD89 practices around equity and inclusivity into daily work and relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
    11. Attends and actively participates in Student Support Team meetings, MTSS meetings, and IEP meetings to support the teaching process, contribute specific student information and assist with recommendations for interventions and special education eligibility/programming.  Communicates effectively with students, parents, and school staff in these capacities. 
    12. Facilitates MTSS meetings in collaboration with the building principal, including individual and grade-level planning meetings. 
    13. Applies ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observes relevant laws and policies that govern practice.  Participates in professional organizations and continually seeks to improve professional knowledge and skills. 
      
    Job Responsibilities: (Other responsibilities may be assigned.)
    1. To implement all district policies as they relate to the classroom.
    2. Make decisions and demonstrate support of the mission, vision, goals and interests of the school district and of students.
    3. To direct and supervise the conduct of all students within school facilities and grounds.
    4. To recommend changes and improvements in the curriculum to the principal and/or appropriate curriculum committees.
    5. To recommend the assignment of students and modification of educational programs.
    6. To seek assistance from or through the principal, the assistant principal, supportive services staff, or other specialists to improve the instructional program, or to help solve specific problems.
     
    Qualification Requirements:
    • Completion of requirements for a Master’s degree with a major appropriate to the assignment.
    • Licensed in the State of Illinois as a School Psychologist.  Certificate to be registered in DuPage County.
    • Other qualifications of academic, professional, and personal excellence as the Board may specify.
     
    Skills Required:
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents and correspondence.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the school community.
    • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written form.  Ability to write reports as needed.  The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
    • Ability to complete basic mathematical operations and apply concepts of algebra and statistics.
    • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
    • Ability to perform essential duties within school district requirements and Board of Education policies.
     
    Physical Demands:
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk and hear.
    • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, operate office and computer equipment; and reach with hands and arms and will repeat actions with the same hand, arm or finger motion.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
    • The employee may occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
    • The position requires meeting deadlines with time constraints, travel between buildings, travel to out of district placements, interacting with the public and staff, irregular or extended work hours.
     
    Work Environment:
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually low.  However, on occasion, the noise level will be moderate.
    • Work is usually conducted indoors.  This work could be conducted at any school district location.
