  •   The Champaign County Children’s Advocacy Center is accepting applications for a Forensic Interviewer, available immediately. The successful applicant for this position will assist and support child victims and their families during and after investigations into allegations of abuse by conducting forensic interviews of children during the investigative process, connecting child victims and their families to community support services, working with law enforcement, social services, schools, and health and welfare agencies, and educating community agencies, schools and organizations on child abuse awareness and prevention.  The successful applicant must be interested and able to work with individuals during high stress and highly emotional cases, particularly crimes of violence and crimes involving child victims. The successful applicant must also be highly organized, proficient in the use of technology, and have strong communication skills.
     
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with a focus in criminal justice, education and/or social sciences and 1-3 years related experience, or 2 years’ professional experience as a child abuse and/or sexual abuse investigator through employment with a law enforcement or child protective agency or department. 
    Preference given to candidates with previous experience in criminal justice or human services. Experience with children and familiarity with early childhood trauma is preferred. Training and certification in forensic interviewing is preferred but not required and will be provided to the successful applicant. Proficiency in foreign languages is preferred.

    The salary range for this position is $42,500.00-$63,750.00, commensurate with experience.
