POSITION TITLE:
Coordinator of Bilingual and Multicultural Programs
REPORTS TO:
Assistant Superintendent of Student Services
SUPERVISES:
EL Staff
POSITION GOAL:
To use leadership, provide professional development in education best practices, ensure compliance, provide accurate accounting, and facilitate quality services for district stakeholders in the department of bilingual and multicultural programs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the instructional and organizational leadership of the consolidated Title III grants.
Coordinates identification, screening, and assessments of potential ELLs.
Supports multilingual student achievement initiatives.
Manages, coordinates, and analyzes district data collection regarding ELLs.
Collaborates with other administrators and principals on the implementation of Title III English Learner programs, including maintaining an EL handbook for principals.
Recommends instructional materials for students needing language support interventions and provides support of instructional practices.
Supporting the instructional practices and evaluation of ELL certified and support staff through observation, modeling, and professional development.
In partnership with the assistant superintendent of student services: write, manage, and evaluate federal and state grants, ensuring the district is in compliance with grant requirements; complete state reports pertaining to the EL programs; provide leadership and oversight for compliance and legal matters related to EL.
Investigate and implement programs to support dual language programming and the Seal of Biliteracy.
Remain abreast of developments and innovations in the field by reading current and cogent literature, attending professional society and association meetings and conferences, and discussing development and problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
Interviews and places potential ELL staff according to student needs.
Conducts annual consultation with non-public principals on compliance monitoring to insure delivery of program standards.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services or their designee.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Five years of successful teaching experience.
2. Building level leadership preferred.
3. Demonstrated success with instructional and organizational leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters’ Degree required.
Illinois State Certificate with Administrative Supervisory endorsement – General Endorsement required.
Bilingual Endorsement/approval or required coursework.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish, at a minimum, preferred.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
