Job summary:  To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning through level one technical services that support accessible, equitable and user-friendly systems with training that supports all users to effectively and efficiently achieve the district mission.  Osseo Area Schools is Minnesota’s 5th largest school district. This position will be a part of the Instructional and Informational Technology Team (I2T2) which provides technical support to approximately 21,000 students and  3,000 staff members across 31 site locations. This includes the management of approximately 9,000 classroom/staff computers and 21,000 student mobile devices. With support from technical support specialists, repair technicians, network administrators and school staff, this position works to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction with technology services.
 
Responsibilities and tasks include: 
 
 
 
• Provide first-level installation, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance on all computing devices  and peripheral classroom hardware and equipment, including network connections
• Provide first-level technical support using procedures and tools established by District-Level Technical Support;
• Document daily activities in the work order system and escalate to second level as needed;
• Provide training and instruction in the use of classroom, mobile, and instructional technologies;
• Provide inventory of hardware and software as requested; and,
• Perform other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned. 
 
Minimum qualifications include: 
 
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Highly motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic.
• Communicates effectively and confidently, both verbally and in writing.
• Proficiency to troubleshoot hardware, software and explain current technology to end-users
• Ability to use a variety of operating systems, including Windows, ChromeOS, and iOS.
• Ability to respond to help desk requests via telephone, help desk software, and email
• Ability to travel to different sites during the workday.

• Experience working in a K-12 school setting

Salary:  View Classification II (2) salary grid on page 4, section 2, and classification, page 5, section 2 on Educational Support Professional contract 
 
Work schedule: 6 hours/day; 5 days/week; school year

Support Application Specialist III (TSS III)
Hours:  8 hours/day; 5 days/week; all year round

General Purpose of Job:  
To inspire and prepare all students with the confidence, courage and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning by managing the District-Wide system, including user training, hardware and software problem solving, on-site and hotline support, and coordinating District MARSS system and reporting.
 
Description:  
Support District-Wide system, including user training, hardware and software problem solving, on-site and hotline support, and coordinate MARSS systems and reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
• Providing technical support to District users of the District-Wide Systems.
• Investigating, researching, documenting, reporting and solving problems encountered that effect Osseo’s use of the District-Wide Systems within our organization.
• Monitoring student data.
• Providing technical support to District Administrators related to student records.
• Perform other duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.
• Developing and revising user friendly documentation for proper use of the District-Wide Systems.
• Providing training and instruction to system users.
• Retraining staff on new releases of software and updating users on new state requirements.
• Planning, organizing, executing and managing District-Wide system procedures and timelines to ensure proper operation of the system to meet District and State requirements.
• Coordinating and directing the District’s operation of, and compliance with, the MARSS system to ensure proper accounting of student data to be used for District and State reporting.
• Serving as District MARSS contact person as required.
• Monitoring and directing activities of personnel associated with MARSS system.
• Monitoring the system integrity and security.
• Insuring and maintaining the confidentiality of district data files.
• Designing and generating customized reports as necessary to meet the needs of the District and building administrators and staff.
• Analyzing users’ requests and determining if local customized applications can be utilized. If so, designing customized applications. If not, recommending program enhancements to district vendor.
• Performing other duties of a like or similar nature as assigned
Required Qualifications:  
• Minimum of associate degree or a two-year college or technical school OR eight years of related experience. Experience should include: work direction, training, report writing, word processing, spreadsheets, and working with application end users and software.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree Preferred Coursework in Management Information Systems or a closely related field. .
• Desired three years District experience using system applications
• If working in Special Education Systems, experience is preferred in tuition billing. 
• Experience working with student information systems
• Experience in Elementary and Secondary scheduling
• Proficiency in a language other than English (Spanish, Somali, Hmong, Vietnamese)
Knowledge and skills required to perform the essential functions of the job:
• Demonstrable ability to manage large data processing applications including design, implementations, training and coordination.
• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with others; possess strong verbal and written skills.
• Ability to analyze and solve difficult problems and design temporary work-arounds.
• Ability to analyze and attend to details with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to work efficiently under the pressure of project deadlines.

Hourly Rate Range: Class V per contract: $26.67 to $34.41 per hour
